You probably know that it is important to drink sufficient amount of water. A minimum of 8 glasses of water a day is advised. This is a number to strive for to improve your health and well being. You should aim for more if it is genuinely hot, or you’re sweating a lot and working out. Getting enough water in your body will keep you from getting dehydrated.

According to WEBMD the early signs of dehydration are increased thirst, sticky saliva and dry mouth, and reduced urine output with dark yellow urine. You may also experience headache and a lack of energy. None of these sound very amusing. I know it is hard sometimes to drink that much water; particularly when sodas and coffee tempt us. However, to stay healthy and feel eager, we should strive to drink those eight glasses of water a day.

Keep an eye on your water intake to meet your minimal water intake goals. This can be as simple as a small piece of paper on the fridge, or a page in your day planner. Simply make a little check mark, or dash on the piece of paper every time you drink a glass of water. The log will help you keep track of how much water you have had in any given day. You’ll also be surprised how motivating it is to try to get those eight little check marks on there every day. Another idea would be to use little stickers instead.

Add Some Lemon Juice to your water will add a small zip to the taste. I tend to get bored with drinking just water after a few days. Grapefruit Atkins Diet - Did You Why It Is Called That Name

There is a diet that really has nothing to do with the Atkins Diet, called the Atkins Grapefruit diet, that combines elements of it’s famous namesake and an all grapefruit diet. Don’t look now, but it may not be what people hope.

First of all it’s pretty difficult to find information on the Atkins grapefruit diet plan. Smart people know that when someone is perpetrating a deception, or a con, they will often gloss over facts. This is what the Atkins grapefruit diet seems to do in an attempt to get people to associate it with two supposedly effective diets.

Does the Atkins grapefruit diet have anything to do with the actual Atkins diet No, in fact the Induction phase of the Atkins diet is bereft of fruit, and there’s no mention of the grapefruit version on the Atkins web site.

These are the foods allowed in the Atkins diet Induction phase - sorry Atkins grapefruit diet, no fruit here:

Fish of all kinds Flying game such as turkey and chicken Shellfish of any variety Beef, pork and other meats Eggs cooked in any style including fried Cheese All sorts of vegetables Any herbs and spices to make food more exciting Fats and Oils Water and other low carb drinks including diet soda

Unfortunately for the Atkins grapefruit diet, there no fruit. Later phases of the Atkins diet do include limited amounts of fruits such as cantaloupe and even lemon juice, and the pre-maintenance and maintenance phases even specifically allow small quantities of grapefruit. But there is far more grapefruit in the Atkins Grapefruit diet than Dr. Atkins would ever dream of allowing.

The Atkins Grapefruit Diet recommends a cup of grapefruit juice or a cup of grapefruit sections, with 8 and 18 carbs respectively. But the Atkins diet calls for no more than 7 grams of carbs in a day. the two diets just don’t mesh.

A smart person would immediately peruse the Atkins web site in search of the Atkins Grapefruit diet. When they found no mention of that diet on the site, a red light would go off and an alarm would sound.

Don’t forget the following. Any diet that relies too heavily on one food or food group is going to be unhealthy. The philosophy of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet is counter to that of the Atkins diet.
